Intimacy Improvement ( Labiaplasty, Fat Enlargement of the Labia Major & Fat Grafting in Vaginal Wall)

As seen nationally, our clinic has received a number of calls involving a relatively taboo subject in cosmetic surgery, what can be called intimacy improvement or labio-vaginal rejuvenation.

What is Labiaplasty ?

"Labiaplasty" is a correction of sagging or enlarged inner labial folds of the vulva (labia minora). This is a simple trimming procedure usually performed under minor sedation or local anesthesia. The resulting effect can be an aesthetically more pleasant appearance coupled occasionally with lessened discomfort related to panty irritation, etc. At the same time we often recommend plumping of the outer labial folds (labia majora) to produce a more erotically pleasing vulva. Labiaplasty greatly improves the visual appearance of the visible vagina. In today's world, where being naked is often part of one's lifestyle either at a gym or in the privacy of home, many women improve their self-confidence as well as their self esteem following this procedure.

Why Labiaplasty Surgery ?

There are three foremost motives for wanting to have labiaplasty: embarrassment, discomfort, and aesthetics. You are a candidate if wearing tight clothing makes you feel uncomfortable or sore because the outer vagina is rubbing against your panties (this is particularly noticeable when exercising), or if the labia minora becomes irritated during sexual intercourse. However, the biggest reason why most women want to have labiaplasty is because they just want to look sexier and more appealing to their partners.

What is Fat Grafting of the Vaginal Wall ?

The vaginal area often undergoes undesirable changes with aging or after pregnancies; thinning and loss of firmness of the outer labia folds and loss of firmness and padding of the vaginal walls are common complaints. In addition, there is the occasional poorly repaired childbirth tear that further relaxes vaginal support. We have expanded our use of fat grafting to improve the results of labiaplasty. By re-injecting fat into the labia area, we are able to increase the volume of the areas that have deflated or that were originally never very well proportioned. In the first part of the procedure, fat is extracted from an available site, most often the lower abdomen, and is deposited into the thinned out or deflated outer labia folds and sometimes the vaginal wall. The effect is firmer support surrounding the inner folds, and the creation of a more youthful-looking as well as a functionally improved vaginal texture. This procedure often leads to increased sexual satisfaction for both partners as a result of the firmer and thicker vaginal wall and a more erotic appearance. Many women complain that they cannot feel their partners (or vice versa). By narrowing the vaginal canal, sensation can return for both partners. This is especially true for older women whose sexual partners are also older. Older men, even those using Viagra or Cialis, do not have the same firmness during erections that they had in their twenties (on men who do not have erectile dysfunction, these products help maintain firmness longer, but do not necessarily create additional firmness). After fat micro-grafting to the vaginal walls, not only does the woman feel her partner better but her partner also maintains more firmness. This is because male erections are not maintained by sexual arousal alone, but also by friction to the penis. This additional friction maintains male firmness for longer periods (past the initial firmness created by sexual arousal), thus allowing many women more "quality" time to reach orgasm. According to Robert W. Birch, Ph.D, only 30% of women have an orgasm during intercourse. However, according to anthropological research 88-96% of women are capable of having orgasms. What this means is that 60% of women not having orgasm during intercourse could, if they could fix whatever problem is preventing them from attaining this objective. It's unquestionable that a number of these 60% will be able to obtain orgasm during intercourse following a fat micro-grafting procedure; however, we cannot predict the outcome of individual cases. We do know however, that many of our patients who have had fat micro-grafting to the vaginal walls were ecstaticwith the results... and there was never a single complaint from their partners.

There is little downtime following these procedures, although sexual activity needs to be postponed for a few weeks. Additionally, the repair of pelvic muscles when indicated (like after poorly repaired episiotomies, for instance) will help restore vaginal tone as well.

Is Anesthesia Required for this Procedure?

This procedure is usually performed under local sedation rather than general anesthesia. For a full vaginal repair or fat micro-grafting in the vaginal walls, general anesthesia is required.

Is This Something for Women Who Have Not Had Children?

The principal reason for labiaplasty is an esthetic one, but occasionally some women experience discomfort from overly developed labia minora. Enhanced sexual satisfaction during intercourse is the main motivation for vaginal rejuvenation and most often requested by mothers whosuffered some damage during vaginal delivery.
